Meet Thala

Thala is 4 years old and is affected with KRT10 EI without PPK. Thala and her family live in the Philippines, and the climate is very tropical. Thala’s mum Jona is a passionate advocate for Ichthyosis, and is always willing to help new families with kindness, support, and skincare advice.

Thala’s Care Routine

Thala has two 30 to 40 minute baths every day, once in the morning and every night before she goes to bed. Mum Jona uses a fine lice comb to manage scales on Thala’s scalp three times a week. Jona also applies Dermaveen shower and bath oil to Thala’s skin for at least 30 minutes before she takes her bath, then uses Aveeno body wash after bathing. While Thala’s skin is still damp after bathing, Jona applies a mixture of Eucerin and vegetable glycerin everywhere. They have recently started using Epimax (a lotion for ezcema and psoriasis) which contains liquid paraffin and white paraffin, and they have noticed the thick skin is softening and thinning out as a result. Jona also uses a keratolytic cream (Eucerin Urea) to help soften callouses that build up on Thala’s feet.
