Current Research in the EI Cure Project Portfolio

The research projects shown below are the Research Grant Award Winners for 2024.

At the EI Cure Project we feel incredibly lucky and are extremely proud to be able to use your donations to contribute to this cutting-edge research. Research of this nature is extremely expensive and requires an immense amount of skill and expertise, in addition to very specialist research laboratories and research environments.

We would not have been able to fund so many wonderful projects without the support of key collaborators. These collaborators have allowed research for Epidermolytic Ichthyosis to move forward much more quickly than we could have anticipated, and this brings a great deal of hope for many of our questions about drug repurposing and gene-editing to be answered within a much shorter timeframe than we could have thought possible. We hope to be able to move into Phase 2 of our EI Cure Project plan (Human clinical trials) by 2030, but this will of course be dependent on our findings from the pivotal studies described below and on our continued ability to raise funds through donations, collaborators, and sponsors.

All of our researchers have kindly agreed to share a brief update on their progress every 6 months throughout the duration of their projects and these will be published on the individual project pages. All the projects have different start dates and different durations, so it’s worth checking back with us on a regular basis to see what progress has been made.
